I’m going to dealers on Saturday to view 2 motorhomes I like from their website.
Having been caught out by damp previously, at what point do I ask to see a habitation inspection? What if they say they don’t do them until point of sale? My previous purchase was a private sale and we got caught out. I want to negotiate on price and extras thrown in etc. But I want to see an up to date inspection first. Do dealers provide one before a sale is agreed. Thank you x

Just ask for proof from the dealer that it’s been done, if you are interested seriously in a van then don’t sign on the line till damp check done.
I know when we traded our bessacarr in, it was damp checked before the dealer would take it, so I’m assuming , but I will stand corrected, that it’s done before they sell it on?

Thank you Lorfal. I suppose if they’ve bought it in used then they will hopefully have had an inspection. I’m taking a damp meter with me too.

They normally do a damp check as part of the pre-delivery habitation check. You could ask if they any paperwork from previous owner to show when last check was done.

Thanks Paul, I don’t really want to get as far as a pre delivery inspection till I find out if it has any damp or water ingress. But I will be asking for copies of previous inspections too. Both motor homes I’m keen on are only 12 months old but I am still very cautious.
