Just got a spare wheel with nearly new tyre from the local breakers, as our Adria only came with inflation kit, which I think are useless....
Very impressed with the service, they found a nice clean Ducato wheel, fitted a nearly new tyre and insisted on trying it on the van to make sure it fitted! All for £40
Sounds like a bargain Luke, l take it that you have checked the date on the tyre just to be on the safe side?
We had our caravan tyres replaced last year due to the risk of cracking, which can happen within, and out of view, but to the eye, they were almost like new. It was only the fact that they had been on the caravan for 5yrs since new, and were out of date on the manufacturers stamp that made us change them.

I wouldn't have a vehicle that didn't have a spare wheel. I have no faith in these 'inflation kits'. However I do wish that the spare on my van was easier to access.
5 years doesn't seem much life for a tyre, although I have no experience of caravans. Do they wear any faster than car/motorhome tyres?

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
They hardly wear at all, but are susceptible to side wall cracking.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I bought a spare wheel from a breakers and had a brand new tyre fitted - the tyre had been used as a spare and had never been fitted to a wheel before I bought it.
Everything about the tyre looks okay and it's age is of little worry.
If I even need to fit it in an emergency it will only be driven a short distance and relatively slowly to the nearest garage to repair or replace the damaged tyre it replaces.
The 'spare' cost less than £25 and could be a lifeline in the case of a puncture.
