Hi all, anyone know of you can charge your USB devices off the regular plug outlets in the camper whilst not connect to a charging point? We have a full battery after our last campsite but thought with it out would send a charge to the power points even if not connected but seems not. Is there a masterswitch we are missing or just doesn't work?
If you are referring to the mains outlets, these only work when connected to hook-up. However, you should be able to use your 12 volt circuits to charge things. Just like plugging in to the cigarette lighter sockets in a car.
get a 12v plug wired with a female ciggie lighter bit, then you can buy the plug in usb,s meant for in your car, and use that to charge things up when not on ehu, but word of advice, think carefully before charging via the caravan, as once that is dead you have no loo flush, no taps etc etc, yet you could have charged them using your car esp if going out
Agree...what van you got? Might help to get more info from folk with same or similar outfits.
So can’t use a charging plug whilst not on hookup, but can use 12 v sockets. We use a double USB 12v plug. Our van also has USB sockets everywhere, to shove cables in directly. Uses very little energy and has never drained leisure battery.
Why not install USB ports in your van, it is a simple job. I have just installed two CBE units and a 12 volt charger in my panel van bought on line.

I’ve got a power bank which cost me about £20 from Amazon. It charges my phone and/or tablet about 4 times on one charge. Very useful off grid as it’s only one thing to charge from the 12volt. We only have one 12v socket in the van, apart from the one in the cab which only works with the ignition on.
I use this https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Griffin-Compact-Dual-USB-Car-Charger-for-Mobiles-Mp3-and-Others-1-Amp/17026547514?iid=372314404609&chn=ps in my camper when travelling (alternator charging) and when stopped on a campsite never had a flat battery, now also use the leisure batteries during the day as I have solar panels
I’ve fitted extra usb’s Around our motorhome including the bathroom,
I’ve bought a usb chargeable shaver, and 2 usb chargers for our electric tooth brushes.
