You might try the Classic Campers Club for a few pointers on insurance.
As for your van, I'm not sure whether to congratulate you or sympathise. I had one of these of the same vintage - albeit it was my first new van. Although it was totally reliable, it was very under powered, heavy to drive and had a terrible gear change (although this can be improved). It was also very thirsty.
But as I said, it was reliable and we had many good holidays round the UK and Europe. Hope your van turns out as well.
