hi two questions really-
1-the taps for both the grey and fresh water drains are some way under the van requiring you to get on your hands and knees -is there anything that can be purchased to effectively extent the tap where it can be easily reached ?
2-we have the pop top model with a very narrow strip between the top of the door frame and the pop top-we have been told by our supplier that an awning (fiamma or similar)cannot be fitted because lack of area means the 'fiamma' would hinder the door and pop top operation, and an awning rail to use a detachable type would allow the awning to flop and be hindered by the slide door
has anyone any ideas I find it hard to believe there's not a way around it -an 'up and sick out a bit type bracket maybe ?
but then who would fit stuff like that ?
thanks
Kim
Hi, not being familiar with this van, I took a look at pictures on internet. I can see what you mean with regards the (item 2) very narrow strip. I can only suggest using any awning at the rear door. Not very convenient as I guess you have maybe a r/r bed or side sofas?. But it is not essential that an awning should fix at the sliding door. It does not even have to be fixed to the vehicle. Drive away awnings are named this way as they can stand alone. Storage whilst you are out and about will be available and reserve your pitch. Whilst eating, sitting etc you will have shelter from sun rain and wind. However, I certainly would not be drilling holes in my van to attach a rail. Similarly throw over straps will not be ideal. In your case I would look at stand alone shelters. Vango Hex Hubs (other makes available) for a perfect answer, without any compromise.
With regards (item 1) I would think that rather than extend any pipework I would get a couple of 'Gerrycan' size and shape of plastic carriers and slide them underneath on their wide flat side, rather than the impossible upright. I hope this will be of some help to you at solving your problems.
Depending on the taps, you may be able to attach a flexible pipe to the spigot, with another tap placed more conveniently. The existing tap would be left permanently open. A better solution would be to replace the existing taps with proper pipework extensions but that would probably mean dropping the tanks out to do. There may well be other solutions.
We had a t5 with a pop top we fitted an awning rail in the same area and didn’t have a problem using a driveaway awning as the attaching piece via a figure of 8 went upwards to the top of the awning
I used to have a m/home where the waste tap was quite a way under the van. I removed the tap then extended the pipe by using another piece of plastic pipe inserted into both outer pieces (if you get my drift) clamped up with jubilee clips then refitted tap in a different & better location.
