I would really like to install a fancy system in my camper which I can combine a radio, dab, sat nav, reversing camera. Some of the Kenwood systems look really good but the cost is prohibitive, my budget is £400 to £500 fitted maximum. I’ve been recommended some systems where I can use apple play and combine google maps from my iPhone but I would like to avoid this if I can find a solution which has its own built in sat nav rather than use my mobile telephone.
Please can you recommend something if you have had a similar system installed?
Best regards
One potential problem to watch for is the ease, or difficulty of upgrading built-in satnavs. For example mine is now 10 years out of date, and that is the reason I now use Co-Pilot app on my iPhone in preference to the built-in unit.
I think your budget is a bit optimistic , I just had a Kenwood radio with all the functions you mention including rear camera, except sat nav and it was over £600 fitted at a local garage. Sat nav function seems to push the price up significantly and as the previous response said aren't always easy to update. We just use the phone as sat nav and are well pleased with the unit. Rear camera is great!
Hello, yes that is my other option that I have considered, there seem to be some decent kenwood units which you can link to your telephone which I then understand displays in on the screen, although I use an old iPhone 4 I have had since 2010. It is still going strong but uses the older iOS 7.1.2 and many of these units don’t support something that old?
I got an android 7.1 head unit for the wife's dacia. Radio, CD, dvd, WiFi, GPS and all the android apps. Wireless reversing camera and it had the can bus for the car. £250.
They are vehicle specific but you can also get cheaper double din units
