Hi we are newbies to this and would like to ask about water from sink does this have to be collected or can it just run from pipe under motorhome? Thanks
No it cannot just run from pipe under motorhome. To do that would be illegal in this country.
You must catch it in a bucket or purpose made waste container such as a waste master then dispose of it either at home or in the facility provided on a camp site.
We do not know what type of van you have. Please enter it in.
Waste water is to be collected in a container if you do NOT have a grey water tank. I do not think many vans are made without them though. You have a fresh water tank so I would think you have a grey water tank.
Let us just say that IF you do not open the waste tap under the van (where the water does run from) you would soon fill up the water pipe from sinks and shower. So honestly you should/must have one, other wise the sinks would not drain.
Any container will do. We use a low bucket that Bird feed was bought in. It is see through, and that helps as we notice when it needs emptying. We do not let grey water stay in our tank, we just let it run straight through, into the bucket. It helps to prevent the build up of scum in the tank. We also have one of those little plug hole sieve type things that stop crumbs or anything going into the tank.
Cheap cola is also great for cleaning a waste tank. Put it in an empty tank as you leave the pitch. All the swilling round on the journey home sloshes it round. Empty when you get home. Not sure why it works, but it does. We sold our house and toured in an 8 metre A class for a year, came through the beast from the East, luckily had a winterised van, on board water tank etc.... got snowed in in Cornwall, had a ball for 12 months , and settled in South Devon
Thank you . There is a large black container with a screw lid on top and a screw lid on the side I assume this is it....Sounds like your waste water container to me ..I would investigate the cost of having an under slung tank fitted as it makes life much simpler
We have an underslung tank but still use the black cannister. Not all sites have drive-over motorhome drains, certainly not the smaller non-Club places.
