Hi, we live in West Yorks and have an (unconverted) alphard. Before you commit to anything I strongly recommend you look at "New Acre Cars" who import and convert alphards. If fuel consumption is an issue consider LPG. They will do that conversion for you as well. You will get a lovely one well below your budget. If you're on facebook join the toyota alphard club group and read some comments. I have no connection to that company by the way.

Hi we have a Nissan Elgrand. Beautiful imported vehicle. Built in 2005 but drives like a much more recent vehicle. There are no issues with the Japanese engines needing replacement they are great cars and bargains when stacked up against VWs. Suggest you look at the Toyota Alphard as well as the Elgrand. Theer are plenty of specialist importers and converters out there. Good luck!
