Hi, I'm at the budgeting (think "justification") stage of swapping from a car to a small motorhome or campervan. I really don't use my car much! Can anyone with an Autocruise Vista give me an idea of what their insurance costs them? as I haven't purchased a vehicle yet I am loath to go through the lengthy get a quote process at the moment. Many thanks for any advice you can give, I'm looking at a 2005 onwards vehicle age. Thanks again Janine
That's a bit difficult to answer because the residential postcode where you live or where the motorhome is kept overnight will have an influence on the insurance premium alone. Then there is age and how long you have held a UK licence for is all taken into account so each quote is independent of many factors involved. The best solution is to obtain a few quotes yourself then compare them with the best policy you need.
Tango55 is quite correct, however as you are essentially just thinking of changing vehicle, most of the criteria will be the same.
In general, motorhomes / compervans are fairly cheap to insure. I pay less than £200 fully comp with protected NCD through Adrian Flux, slightly less than my wife's VW Polo.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
Hi, I'm thinking just a "ball park" figure, or even just the insurance group as from that I can actually calculate the average cost - just I can only find insurance groups for Boxer vans, not coachbuilt m/homes on a boxer base. Thanks again, Janine
Thanks everyone, I've now worked out that it will be between 4-6 groups lower than my car, so can "justify" it on that basis. Great info here, thanks again.
We have an Autocruise Vista 2000. They are a great little van with so much space and storage.Sure you will love it when you get one.Unfortunately due to illness we don't get away in ours as much as we would like to. Hope you enjoy yours.
Thanks so much Janice22, I hope your health improves and you're on the road again in no time. I love the look of the Vista, it's just perfect for me and three dogs! regards Janine
motorhome insurance is often 'cheap' because its assumed to be a second vehicle with limited mileage per year and not used for commuting or business use. If you do high commuting miles or need business use the premiums will be higher. They only way to estimate is to get quotes.
