How long would before not moving will damage a motorhome? Do brakes seize or other dreadful things happen? Ours is in storage and we cannot access it. We should have been away at Easter but obviously didn't go anywhere. We drove it about 10 days before lockdown. Just wondering...

well do think the stock at the motorhome dealers get moved and driven, don't worry about it, the only problem could be if something has run the battery down. most motorhomes stay on drives etc all winter.

Standing for a few months won’t hurt it. Good idea to charge batteries once a month though to keep them in good condition. If you cannot charge batteries you might find after 3 months or more it is too flat to start but call your breakdown for a jump start & hope battery is ok. If you can leave the handbrake off then do that but if you cannot & you find it stuck on when you try to move it then shunting it backwards & forwards a few times will usually unstick it.

Not seen mine for a month now also in storage, batteries are OK according to the Swift Command app..
I used to leave the car for up to three months at a time when I worked overseas and that was always fine when I returned.

Looks like the price of diesel is going to drop further. Bit annoyed that we filled up in February! as we'd have saved a bit by waiting & given the MH a bit of a run to the fuel station, via a supermarket of course. The value of hindsight....

Modern diesels don't like to be sat ticking over you would be better off taking it for a 30 minute run, need to get the exhaust hot or you'll just choke up the particular filter and EGR valve.

I'm no mechanic myself but was told this by a guy who knows his stuff

Yes engine ticking over from cold is bad, it even said it in my Vivaro user manual, start the engine and drive off.

Our van has been parked in the garage since September, as it is every winter, bit longer this time but it will be fine

I use the camper as often a practical for shopping etc.. This gives it a 30 mile run. I was told at the garage where I get the van serviced, that it needs a good run to avoid EGR valve problems.

Two drifters off to see the world.

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

I just wish I could use or move it. We are not allowed in caravan club site storage. And no doubt the hand brake will be on very firmly if OH had anything to do with it ...
