Hi, got a question about campervans possibly a thinking outside the box question.
I'd like a pvc, but not willing to pay 50k plus for one. Second hand ones vary in price and quality, but are all rather expensive or look really bad(I’m thinking Cheap nasty eBay ones)
Given that you could go really cheap - throw a mattress in and glue some ikea furniture to the floor, use a camper stove, and a plug in fridge, or the other end is 50 or even 60 k, is there nothing in between ? I suppose I’m thinking new but basic, which I could then buy second hand. But not awful, I’ve seen 4K conversion on eBay that are just awful. I know I can hunt for a good 2nd hand one, there just seems to be gap in The market for a sensible priced pvc, that I hope someone is filling and I’ve just missed it? I'm thinkIng 30k for a new van conversion on a ducato or something ? Why’s that so impossible (I get it wouldn’t come with all the mod cons but just a basic decent van).

Also look at Race van conversions if you are in the market for a very basic campervan, without all the frills. Some decent ones go for a little as half the price you would expect to pay for full van conversion, and often have a lot more storage space for Bikes, Surf boards and general sports equipment.
The greatest problem in a Basic 'throw a matress in the back' type of conversion is Condensation. Without decent insulation and ventilation all soft furnishings, bedding and clothing end up damp by the next morning, and trying to sleep in hot weather in such a confined space without the insulation to sheild from tye hot sun is no joke at all!
We tried this approach a few years before my husband retired, using his Ford Transit Crew bus, one weekend away in it was enough,and we returned home tired and uncomfortable due to lack.of sleep, and in need of some fresh dry clothing!
