Hi all, need a bit of info/advice. the time has come to replace my sagging front suspension (Macpherson strut) on my old Bessacarr Mh, can anyone give me a rough idea of cost and best place to have work carried out please, I'm disabled so can't do it myself. I live in Coventry so nearby garage would be great if recommended by this site, thanks in advance, Paul.

Is it the shock absorber, the spring or both?

A complete set of bits are likely to be up to £200 a side + labour etc..
so you could be looking about £600 +

Go to a local workshop that has a good reputation. They'd be cheaper than a main dealer.

Hi Capt Lightening, yes I need both spring and shock on both sides, only got minimal clearance due to weak front suspension and road handling is terrible, thanks for info, much appreciated.

I based the price on what I might pay for struts on my Citroen relay.
The shock and the spring are about the same price. Of course, when it comes to fitting them, other things might need replaced or there might be difficulty dismantling the old strut. You will probably pay £50-£60 an hour for labour.

My local garage has a great reputation. They're expensive (£60 / hour), but I can be sure that they will do a good job and not cut any corners.

Would check condition of the strut mount at the top of the underside of the wheelarch. Dirt is known to collect here with the resulting corrosion trouble.
