we are getting back into motorhomes after a break, can't believe how the prices have jumped, sister in law had a van converted in 2012 cost £32000 and today dealers selling same model and year asking £32000. i have noticed there is a few coming onto market where the owners probaly realised its not their thing so selling. i will wait untill early next year when the rush has died down, went to look at a new elddis van cv20 and was told they had a registered one just coming in with only1200 miles on clock 20 reg. as his wife didnt like it.
People seem to be asking mad money. I was idly looking the other day and I don't care how fab your conversion is underneath it is a van with 150k on the clock.
Market forces have played a part methinks. With the restrictions on continental travel, a lot more people have been investing in caravans/campervans/motorhomes. Many dealers seem to have had far fewer vans in stock by August than in previous years.
Consequently, the law of supply and demand has played a part causing prices to rise.
I suspect a lot of these newbie caravaners/motorhomers will decide it isn't for them and the market will be rich with nearly new vans in a year or two. And prices may well drop at that point!
Ive noticed a greater number of
new UKCS members than Id expect at the end of the season, many asking questions that suggest theyre new to all this camping malarkey. And Ive noticed a far far greater number of MHs parked up for free overnight in my local coastal car park than wed normally have. Supply & demand is showing in the MH prices. Once were back to normal, less demand will see lower prices? But I may well be wrong.
Fiona where about is the coastal car park that you mention? Asking for a friend.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

yes i have decided to go for a new one, for the money approx £45k i can get a new vw conversion, a fiat autocruise, or a elddis 115, so instead of spending 38k on a second hand vw the choice expands, just got to decide, the vw is handy for every day use , the autocruise could be handy as the rear lounge could be left as a bed, as still seats at front and the drivers/passengers seats turn round, the elddis is the right size has a built in toilet/shower and more room inside. so will have another look at all before deciding and placing order.
i have seen a secondhand elddis two year old 5200 mls. for £38995.
I really like the look and layout of the elddis 115 the only negative for me is no automatic gearbox but I think I might have to go with manual as the bigger fixed bed options seem really cramped and the boss is not happy with a 7mtr Motorhome on the drive
