We have a Vito campervan on a 62 plate. We've converted it from the original dualliner. Has any one fitted a swivel base to the passenger seat? If so which base was used and is it fairly straight forward.

Thank you.

We got ours (not a Vito) from this company. They do one for the Vito.

Our battery is under the seat. We're a bit concerned with the (I think it's called a resistor?) that lead will need to turn with the seat. We changed the double passenger seat to a single ok. Must admit to having help lifting that big seat out..... We're both well into our 80s and not as agile and strong as we were 20 years ago! We sold our big motor home and decided to have a go converting this small camper.... Much against advice from family who said we couldn't do it. Couldn't resist the challenge. Its registered as a motor caravan with DVLA.

Maybe take a look on a Vito facebook group. The ones for my van have some great info & knowledge.

There was only one lead under my old double - it was for the pretensioner in the middle passenger seatbelt which is obviously now redundant now I have a single seat.   When disconnected it brought up the airbag light on the dash (even though not airbag related). Fitting a resistor across the connector fools it into thinking it's still connected. 2.2 ohm I believe. They are available on ebay. The pretensioner for the left hand passenger belt is usually in the B pillar & that's the one used when converting to a single seat.    The alternative is to remove the old middle seat belt from the double & leave it connected & cable tied to the seat plinth but not so tidy.   My van's a Citroen Dispatch & I know on the VW's it's much the same.   I'd be surprised if it wasn't on the Vito.   Although I fitted the single seat & swivel myself, my pro converter guy fitted the resistor for me as he had them on hand.

Good luck with the conversion.   I was time poor when we had ours done (not any more!). We love it. Away tomorrow for another trip.

I think the pre-tensioner is part of the airbag circuit. When the airbag is activated, a small explosive charge drives a mechanism that tensions the seat belt.

Two drifters off to see the world.

I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.

Aye. The sensors detect if the passenger seat belts are engaged. If not, the passenger airbag & pre tensioners won't deploy in a crash. Our van didn't have a passenger airbag but still brought up the airbag light when sensor disconnected. We've since had a passenger airbag fitted & programmed in.
