On C&CC sites that we have stayed on they close the gates at 11pm, but if you arrive back after that with a car, you leave it in their car park. Presumably you could do the same with a camper-van?

Most sites have some pitches with EHU outside the security gantry if it’s down, for late arrivals. Or you’re given a fob to lift the gantry - that’s the case for any secure sites we’ve been on. Not all sites have security barriers though.

I’d say No, you probably won’t be able to stay in venue car park afterwards. It’s a question of whether sleeping overnight in a vehicle is allowed by the local rules. But you can check with the venue when you get your tickets.

just say why would you pay money for a site then stay outside on the late arrivals area, most cmc sites the wardens stay near the entrance so you would be popular arriving in the early hours with the engine running. the gates are closed so people can get a peaceful night. better looking for a farm near the venue. dont be tempted to parkup overnight in a layby if you have had a drink in case you get moved on.

when 50 or 60 of me turn up and start stripping 16, 40 tonne trucks worth of staging, lighting, scaff, sound kit and cabling out ten mins after the curtain, and as soon as we finish, the seating guys rip them out and then the flooring guys start. its normally done by about 6pm the following day though.

dont give up join the caravan motorhome club, or the caravan camping club, and look for a cl or cs thats nearby the venue and explain when you book that you might be returning late from the concert, a cl or cs is a small site on a farm usally about 7 spots, i'm sure you would be ok doing that, just remember when you return late that sound travels at night so be careful not to disturb neighbours, ie slamming doors radio on etc. plus you then get a peaceful nights sleep and enjoy the views the next day.

Ok now you’ve spelt that out it doesn’t seem such a good idea, we normally tucked up in a premier inn when your doing your stuff

We regularly (in normal times) use our van for overnighters when we attend concerts.

We usually try to find a nearby site or pub that allows you to stay for the night as close as possible to the venue but leave the van onsite and use public transport and/or taxis to get to and return from the venue. Most sites have late access gates and if we are using a pub we explain to them what we are doing and make sure we have a meal and a drink at the pub before leaving for the venue. We've never been refused yet. For example for concerts at Bath and Bristol we use Bath Marina Caravan Park as there are good all night buses to just outside the campsite, for Salisbury we stay at the C&CC site, for Cardiff we use the Cardiff Caravan Park or Sophia Gardens etc etc.



We've also overnighted in car parks at or near the venue though we do check that this is allowed before doing so. We try to work out the best spot away from noise from strip down/loading, usually on the opposite side of the car park from where the big lorries are parked. Also check on other events that might use the car park the next day as we woke up one Sunday morning after a gig in a Somerset venue to find that the car park was used for a car boot sale every Sunday and we were on the edge of it!
