Welcome to the forum
folk would need a bit more info im afraid than your 1st post states
have you changed like for like as in size, fittings, connections, could you have something that might be dangling and catching therefore stopping complete movement
I have re drilled the holes as they were different the wires on the motorhome were the exact same colour as the wires on the new step nothing is catching if I use the weight of one hand on it it works perfect
I would say that it is misaligned and is binding somewhere as it works ok if you press down on one side
You could try to loosen the fixing bolts slightly and see if it works, if it does you may need some spacing washers to help realign it
Let us know how you get on
No i have checked that and tried the step on a 12v battery and it works fine I have re drilled the holes out to a larger size so it has some movement before tightening up i think the relay may be faulty as i have just wired it up to the original wiring that was were the original step was as all the 4 wires were the same colour on the new step my probelem now is locating the relay
If the relay was faulty I don’t understand why the step works ok when pushed down, by pushing down the action is mechanical not electrical
The relay of course may have a bad connection and cannot push through enough voltage to fully activate the step.
I think there is an autotrail owners club which may be of use?
Yes when i unlock the motorhome doors [central locking ] with the key fob and just assist the step it comes fully out some times on its own if i leave it for an hour or so And then when i lock it just assist with my hand, If i use the button inside the motorhome it goes in about an inch at a time if i keep pressing the button it is as though there is a shortage of power this is whats making me think the relay is on its way out
I looked on the Internet and there were quite a lot of posts on the Thule step problems some related to autotrail but I didn’t go through them all, probably worth you having another look?
Have you called an autotrail dealer, they may help
Is it slide out, Is it electric. Had simular after fitting slide out electric step but found that I had created one myself and the second was poor design the "END STOP FOOTBOARD SLIDE OUT" as its called was getting caught flat section holding the motor (can be seen with bottom cover off) was getting caught only at one side but cut 10mm off both sides and problem solved
Hope this helps
