Hi, guys with all the Covid restrictions we have now.
What do you think it will be like to go caravaning after lockdown.
What different ways and things will have to be changed.sites
Will CS and cl be able to cope with the covid distancing.
How safe do you think our hobby is now due to covid.
We went last year and it was fine. We always use small sites and all covid secure practices were in place. We will be away from 18th April with a couple of weeks at home in between. Booked for April, May, June, July so far and more to come.
We went away for a fortnight last September, using CLs, absolutely fine. All 3 we used had Covid measures in place; plenty of room for social distancing, and when talking to the owners, or other guests on site, we just kept our distance, no problem. I'm sure a caravan or MH is safer than staying in a hotel, only you have touched what's in there, only you use the facilities.
Last time I camped was in a tent in 2018, and waiting for my custom-converted van with her own facilities to arrive later this month.
I shall test camp in the privacy of my own home to get to her, before her maiden trip soon after 12 April 2021 for a few nights.
I have booked at least one trip every month up to August, and 3 in September with 2 of them overlapping in case the longer trip to France does not work out.
All in England except the trip to France planned for September.
Can't wait!

We last went tent camping June 2019, not been since as we only go camping in the South of France, we are booked to return June 2022 and I hope it will be no different to 2019, and that any COVID-19 restrictions will be long forgotten by then.
Although I don't plan to take the van abroad this year, I hope to fly to Europe late in the year and do some touring in GB starting probably in May. I don't book more than a few days in advance, so I can see how things are working out. Rather than book specific sites, I'll see which ones have availability.
------------- Two drifters off to see the world.
I'm tired of reality, so I'm off to look for a good fantasy.
Went away in the van several times last year once restrictions were lifted including a 3 week holiday in Lakes/Northumberland. We stayed at 11 different campsites/CLs/pub stops in total. All of them apart from one, which we left after one night, had Covid secure measures in place. Pitches were well spaced. Limited numbers were allowed into reception/shop etc at any one time and masks had to be worn. One way systems were in place.
For the 'facilities' some of the sites had installed extra toilets and showers. Others had token systems for the shower/loo/washing up block restricting numbers so that fewer people were sharing the facility at any one time. They all had cleaning regimes in place and provided disinfectant spray, wipes etc.
On all except the one we left early everyone followed the rules and we felt totally safe.
The one thing we hadn't expected however were the crowds in the towns etc in both the Lakes and Northumberland. We avoided them and visited quieter and more remote parts instead.
This year we have a number of trips booked starting in May. We'd have gone before that as we have our own facilities onboard but I'm due to have an operation soon so am erring on the side of caution until that is done and I feel up to it.

Roll on 18th April the start of our 1st fortnight away.
Fingers firmly crossed for all those who are planning their first trip out in April 2021, myself included!

Thank you all for the answers and happy days ahead.
Take care as we have done and then our hobby will take us all over the UK and everywhere our heart's desire
We used club sites when we could get away last year and as we use our own facilities we had no issues. As chrisandsandra said the people off site were the issue, no social distancing in some situations. We walked a lot away from the crowds as best we could.I did use the laundry on one club site and as I was issued with a key I felt quite safe.We have several trips booked starting May after our second jab so lets hope we can all get away! Can't wait!
I would have thought that caravanning is about the only type of holiday where you can choose not to go near anyone or touch anything outside of your own caravan.
Perfectly safe!
