Last season, when I switched on my Carver Rapide water heater using gas connection, after 10 minutes I could smell a burning smell coming from under seat where heater is located. I immediately switched it off and pulled all the seat cushions off and could definitely smell like a burning plastic smell. With heater off, the smell stopped. It’s worked fine with electric connection and have used it a few times on gas and could not smell the burning but obviously concerned I took a closer look today. With a mirror and a torch I could see that the bottom of the plastic gas module had melted and dripped onto carpet underneath. I can just make out circuit board inside through melted opening and looks fine. How easy is it to replace this module and what has caused this. has it happened to anyone else?

Welcome to UKCS.
The Carver Cascade water heater was discontinued long since. (I know because we had to replace ours when the gas bit corroded; a Henry is exactly the same, but other water heaters are available.) I’m not an electrician - there are several on UKCS who are very helpful - but there are YouTubes if you google.
Personally, not sure I’d slept too well over a melted heater but hopefully there’s a cheap & easy answer to your question.

Managed to source a new PCB board plastic cover from Gary, gave everything a good clean, including gas jet, replaced the persished foam gasket, adjusted angle of burner plate, and now all working a treat. Very pleased to have resolved this one in time for first trip of the season next week.

Hi can anybody help new to the motorhome world we have a talbot express tried to set up water ect today' switched the water pump switch on and water was pouring out bottom of boiler any help would be appreciated many thanks

Outside or inside? If outside, is the drain plug in place? Also check the drain plug 'O' ring.

If inside, check for split or disconnected hose. It's not unknown for tank to develop a fault. In that case, probably best to replace the heater.

Also if the system has been drained but the water in the boiler has not been purged then it can freeze over winter and pop the seals, they can generally be repaired unless the cylinder has split under pressure then it gets expensive.
