Welcome to UKCS.
If you like the MH layout then whether it’s Fiat or Peugeot is really neither here nor there. We wanted our particular Autosleeper, it’s on a Peugeot. No choice. It’s been fine.
Can’t speak for either model you’re interested in.
Not entirely sure but the Peugeot Boxer base has a steel timing chain and the Ducato has the “rubber/synthetic” timing belt that should be changer about every 5 years which can be expensive ( recommend water pump is done at the same time.)
I’m sure there will be some comments about this as it has been a common topic on the forum
Good to know thanks.
I’m reading that the Eldiss has an aluminium side’s construction but the swift uses GRP...GRP sounds easier to maintain and avoid dings....?
Setting aside the merits of either van, are you campers or caravanners looking to 'upgrade' ? Have you hired a van to check out that this is the lifestyle you really want?
If you're happy to go with it, then I'd say pick the van that suits you best. I wouldn't worry overly about the difference between Peugeot & Fiat.

Both those base vans are the same. Both manufactured in Italy by Sevel which is a company founded and owned jointly by PSA/Fiat.
We've got an Elddis accordo, and whilst cheap they need many jobs finishing off. Drain fittings and wheel arch sealant being the most urgent on ours. Lots of little jobs too. Still worth the £10k saving on a foreign van 👍
With regard to the pros and cons of Fiat vs Peugeot, they're actually the same vehicle made by the Sevel plant, the Citröen Jumper is also the same vehicle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Ducato
The majority of motorhomes on the road are based upon these units.

Also, as we are near Aberdeen, there are lots of Elddis approved service centres nearby.....there aren’t ANY Swift approved centres within 100 miles!
This is a very important point and something often forgotten, we're lucky we bought our MH from a dealer less than 5 miles away, the prospect of a 200 mile round trip for a habitation check or some fixits is something of an inconvenience.
Yes, a good point. I had to go Perth to buy my van which is about a 3 1/2 hours drive. On the positive side, I have a first class garage 3 miles away that does all the servicing, MoT and repairs.
I'm trying to think of service centres near Aberdeen- maybe Dyce caravans?

Perthshire Caravans has their own campsite a few miles away. Still 2 hours drive away for us & it did not supply Autosleeper like our local dealer (BC in Prestwick). If you’re buying new (happy to take the depreciation?) it may be wise to buy within a reasonable distance because there’s bound to be snagging. Thereafter, a mobile engineer can do the Habitation service & the vehicle goes to Peugeot or a good Independent.
My nearest approved workshop is Turriff caravans. They claim to be able to do servicing, habitation checks on all makes of vans, but I'm not sure if that covers work while under warranty.
In the past I've needed repairs done under warranty and found that some dealers wouldn't do it because I hadn't bought the van from them. This happened with a couple of dealers down south. One who was a Carver main dealer initially refused to fix my heater until I said I was going to complain to the head office. The discussion brought the manager out of his office, and he said that of course they would repair the heater. That really pi$$ed of the person who had refused. Hard luck!

Well, after all’s said and done, just put a deposit on an Elddis Autoquest 195 prestige.
Came at a price that was more suited to my wallet than stretching to brand new....
Should be collecting next Sunday, I will put up some pics once we are sorted. Thanks for the replies from you all.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
