I am new to motor-homing having changed from caravan 2 years ago. I now have an Eldiss Autoquest 175. It uses AdBlue and whilst the handbook tells me that an alert will show when low it doesn't give me any idea of how many miles I can expect to do before having to top up the AdBlue.
Can anyone give me a rough idea of the mileage I can expect to do before I need to top it up? Thanks

Not sure that it's that predictable. Friend had a Jag, and Adblue seemed to last 'forever', think it may have been up to next service without top up! When he replaced it with another new Jag, he was forever topping that one up, it positively drank the stuff, no system errors found when it was checked by dealers!

It's impossible to tell as it's all down to driving style.

My car gives the first warning at 1000, then 500, then every 100 down to 200, then every 50 miles.

I've had three cars which used AdBlue, now on the fourth. Find out first the size of the Adblue tank!
Up to now i have had a 15 litre tank and find that i can expect 7-7.5k miles per 10 litres. I began measuring it after the first car which initially drank the stuff - not a problem they said - untrue - the whole system was replaced under warranty whilst on holiday in France.
It does, they say, depend on your type/style of driving ie hard acceleration/towing/use of motorways.
I don't worry too much about it now as AdBlue is widely available (at various prices). The cars I've had have given warning of needing Adblue in 1500miles - top up is usually a minimum of 5 litres ignorer for the sensors to reset.

Leaks in systems are not unheard of, tracing leaks can be impossible as the pipework is hidden. This has the effect of leaking inside cavities and its anyones guess the damage that can cause.

In both my 2.0 VW transporter, and my 3.0 Audi Q7, I get about 6,000 miles per 10 litres.

Thanks Webmaster that is what I was hoping to get so that I have a rough idea of when I should expect to top up the Adblue.

Be aware that some vehicles will continue to run after the ad blue has run out until switched off then won't restart until the system has been reset usually by a dealer. You will get a warning when the ad blue is low so best not to run out of ad blue!

Also, if you plan to refill the Adblu rather than asking a garage to do it, make sure you have some thin plastic piping and a funnel which fits it to pour it in. On both my and my OH’s cars the aperture for the adblu is tiny!

Only ever bough adblue from Halfords & Morrison’s. c. £12 for 10 litres. Both have the screw on plastic pouring nozzle hidden in a recess within the moulded body of the tub, hidden behind the peel off label on the tub.
No idea whether all brands do this?

All the ones I've had have been the same. I did fill up once in France at a Leclerc filling station. Dirt cheap direct from the pump!

Sounds sensible, I leave it to my OH - maybe he hasn’t noticed that :)
