We are having an external gas point for bbq on our VW Campervan, which will be on the other sideof the van to the sliding side door and canopy. What Id like to ask, is are there any forseeable issues with having a long gas pipe so we can bbq on the sliding door side under the canopy door?

I fear this is another urban myth of the camping world.
I have a 4m hose connected to our camping barbecue and plug in to the external gas supply and there has never been an issue with the supply or performance of any barbecue I've had.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

The supplier told us it was due to gas regulations in the UK. They were adamant and even refused to sell us a decent length of gas pipe and some rings to make one ourselves.
Being no expert I was reluctant to argue. In any event when we went to use our external gas point we found it had been disconnected. When I queried it I was told it had been disconnected due to new rules about the routing and type of pipe work allowed inside of motorhomes (all internal pipes must now be metal it seems). Rerouting a new metal gas pipe would have meant almost demolishing the van so we’re back to gas bottles for the Cadac.

Gas regs don't apply to touring caravans/motorhomes/campervans in the UK unless they are rented out to the public.

I’m only quoting what I was told by a reputable dealer who was a Calor Approved Supplier. He pointed out to me that Cadac only sell their fittings with a max of 3m tubing so I had no reason to doubt him.
It is advisory. Recommended max length of flexible gas pipe is 3metres. Some places will not sell lengths over 3mtres but it is easy to find longer lengths. Search eBay lpg gas hose.
