If, by the Friendly Caravan Club, you mean the Camping and Caravanning Club, I joined several years ago and only stayed for 1 year. Without going into details which I have done more than once on these boards, due to the membership fee, the loss of a deposit, and the lack of club sites close enough to where I wanted to visit, it cost me a lot more over the course of a year than it normally cost me using commercial sites. I also found that the pitches on the only two club sites I went to were not the best for tents and more suited to wheeled units. It wasn't worth it for me as a solo tent camper but others may have a different view.
