HI teamates, can anyone tell me what maintenance i should apply to my
Leisure battery, i have permanant power to my Liesure battery & was told it does not need constant power all the time?
Also how often should it be actually CHARGED.
Many thanks 1 & all.
Phil.
If you are driving the vehicle regularly all year that will keep leisure battery charged ok but if vehicle is unused for long periods of time then both leisure battery & vehicle battery should be charged about once a month. Use a smart charger. Lidl & Aldi often have them for about 15quid.
I keep my motorhome on EHU on my drive and have it on a timing plug which gives the battery 2 hours charge overnight 3 times a week. If i'm not using it for extended periods, I switch over to vehicle battery on the control panel for a few hours.

Mines kept topped up by the solar panel all the time - is that bad?
Nope. That's what I do though it would require a decent solar charge controller to have an opinion on the temperature of the battery and it's individual requirements.
Many people that store their vehicles leave them attached to an intelligent charger all the time though I would recommend a decent charger at all times rather than some cheap junk (Ctek is just about okay most of the time).

How have you got it connected at the moment and what type of leisure battery is it?
Charging a battery is obviously done best when it can take a charge. If it does not need charging then..
How often should it be charged is basically every time it is partially depleted and especially when it has approached 50% DOD (depth of discharge) depending on the battery technology itself. I don't see an issue with keeping a battery on charge if it is connected to a charger that is intelligent enough to know what voltage the battery requires to stay full.
