We are 2 reitred pensioners and this was our dream get "out and about" vehicle - bought brand new in 2015 with just 6 miles on the clock !! Last MOT had only 13,000 on clock as not been out and about much in last 2 years (Covid) - had great holiday plans for this year though in Cumbria.

How awful for you.
I don’t do any social media or anything to be able to spread the word for you but I sincerely hope others can and will and that you get your precious vehicle back asap.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
It was stolen from outside our house at 1am in morning 2nd June... Just an hour after we went to bed. We didn't hear a thing...
We still have both sets of all the keys and the immobiliser which was also set too. Our upstairs street view camera does not clearly show how they got in as they did it street side - so it wasn't by the side back door which was nearest the pavement and our house.
We can hear a noise on the video about 10-15 minutes before it gets driven off - but we are not sure if it was my partner Dave snoring or them using some force to get in. You can hear it pull away on video... but can't see anything of the driver inside... Suspiciously though as soon as it disappears the video shows 2 other guys who are walking up the street on other side of road - they seem to have come from nowhere and video stops before we see were they went!!
We wish had bought a ring camera for front door now - as they are much clearer and it would be down at cab level - so we might have seen the perpetrator.
Going back tough - We did have a knock on the door last February 2022 asking if we were willing to sell our motorhome. He said it would be ideal for his mother. He had an Irish accent - offered me £25000 bank transfer which I certainly refused.... Then asked if I would sell it next year... This did ring alarm bells with us and we did take a note of the registration of the dark green Toyota Land Crusier he was driving - but today that's not enough.
Now I am thinking our motorhome was stolen to order....
Police here are not interested no-one has come out to see us - we have just been given me a crime number and nothing more... Not interested in video - but the insurance company has taken down everything and has copies of videos, photos, etc etc Told us to get on social media and spread the word. Hence my post. It's on the UK Stolen Motorhome database - MMM website - facebook etc etc
So other motorhome owners out there please be wary. We have learnt the hard way !!!
Regards
Jan
What you need to be doing is leaning on your insurance company to expedite a payout to you soonest. Don’t take their first offer & negotiate hard. Find examples of same or similar motorhomes at dealers to get idea of retail prices.
From your description you would not be wanting your motorhome back in the state it is liable to be in so push your insurer hard for a prompt payout then you can put this behind you.
Very sad to hear the news about your motorhome. If the insurance company decide to offer a payout I think before that I would be looking for similar models for sale online just to make sure you are being offered enough. Prices seem to be a bit silly at the moment because of shortages of new motorhomes so just make sure its a fair offer.
Our Mazda Bongo was stolen from right outside our house one evening 11 years ago. I am convinced it was stolen to order as our location is not one where there is ever any passing traffic and nothing else around us was touched, even though there were far more expensive vehicles nearby. It's as if they knew exactly what they were looking for and where to find it. No trace of it was ever found and I am convinced it went straight into a container and was shipped abroad. The police couldn't have been less interested. All I got from them was a crime number then a letter 2 weeks later saying they were dropping it owing to lack of evidence.
I certainly hope you have better luck than we did and get your motorhome back soon and in one piece.
Unless the motorhome was stolen with theft of keys & recovered almost immediately which in this case it was not then I guess if recovered insurance will sell the salvage & pay out insured.
Does a stolen caravan or motorhome ever get returned to the owner ? I would guess in most cases it does not which means the crime victim needs to be pushing insurer for payout & ensuring they receive the service they have paid for.
Feel for you. Trouble is they know that the police do jack these days so it's easy for them. I always put a steering lock on as well. Won't stop them if they really want your vehicle but it slows them down or better still put them off.
