Just a heads-up for anyone who might have been aware of the free (up to now!) parking overnight for motorhomes etc along the prom at New Brighton. Charges are being introduced. It will cost £20/night between 10pm and 8am. It's a trial period, apparently.
------------- Always edited for sloppy typing - when I spot it!
Like any rules or regulations, whether it works (as in reducing what must be a problem, or they wouldn’t be trialling this) depends on the enforcement. A similar scheme in my area (but costing less, £20 seems a lot) will require online payment that includes the MH reg no, and will be checked by a local community group, I think.
That seems steep for a carpark but if its been abused then so be it. We don't have a motorhome so have to use sites. Talking to motorhomers here in France some Aires now charge but have electric hook ups.
A lot more motorhomes than vans on sites at the moment.
We went to Honfleur yesterday, €5 to park the car all day a short walk from the harbour, but more in the carparks right near the centre. Its unusual to have to pay, unlike rip off UK. You had to put your reg number in which was printed on the ticket.

It sounds a good idea. When I was on holiday in the Lake District last September there was a large motorhome parked on the roadside for four days just quarter of a mile from the campsite. It was taking up at least two car spaces in an area where there is a shortage of parking for people working in the town.
We also have a similar problem here in the Scottish Borders with motorhomes parking free in and around the towns instead of using campsites. We end up with overflowing litter bins due to these inconsiderate people.
