Can’t get my gas to work??? New to motor homes it has built in tank under van, Filled up tank and tried to light cooker and nothing, No smell of gas and the gas valve to cooker is open, Is there a shut of value or isolation point that I have missed??? Thanks
Start with making sure the gas valve at the tank is on
There is usually a distribution unit for the gas which diverts it to each of the appliances, cooker, hob, fridge etc.this is usually inside the unit
Try to locate this unit and make sure the valves are open.
There may be another main stop valve inside the unit for the gas.
Best to start where the gas pipe enters the unit and follow it through looking for any type of valves
A lot of motorhomes have isolation taps for the gas appliances, they could be switched off.
Your motorhome is a Swift Escape 686, it's not really anything to do with Fiat as such, Swift just chose the Fiat chassis to base their conversion on, it could just as easily been a Peugeot Boxer (same chassis). Try Googling Swift Escape 686 2012 User Manual, hopefully something will turn up and point you in the right direction for the isolation taps.
Happened to us. Checked it was turned on in the wardrobe. Checked we had gas (green lights on display on the dashboard). Eventually found the info in a separate part of the handbook - the isolation switch for ours is underneath the vehicle below the inlet cap. It’s a pig to get to, a cover comes off & you turn a dial clockwise or anti-clockwise then put the cover back on. I can’t remember which way the dial turns, but try the opposite of where it is now. And of course the instructions don’t account for you lying on your back looking up.
Our dealer did it! turned it off for the habitation service, didn’t turn it back on. Same dealer the previous year had left the gas turned on in the wardrobe, with the heating or fridge on, so we headed off for a week with an empty gas tank & had to cook on the electric hob. Now we check everything before we drive off the forecourt & check the green lights regularly too.
I am sure it is to the delight of every manufacturer of M.H's, that something should take an age to find. Glad you are sorted and welcome aboard to the UK campsite.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Just realised my post was a statement of the bleeding obvious! What I meant to say was, many manufacturers hide isolation taps for the gas close to the equipment that's going to use them, e.g. cooker, heater, fridge etc. They're often hidden away in an adjacent locker which is why it's a good idea to find a copy of the manual.
