Just bought my first motorhome a 2009 Fiat ducato moncayo which is low profile. I am not sure what awning i need as most awnings attach to the wind out one on the homes but mine does not have one, Either a fixed or drive away would be fine but no idea what to buy and how it will attach itself to the motorhome.
Any advice really welcome.

Hi, firstly you need to measure your motorhome height to find a suitable awning. Some driveaway awnings come with straps to throw over the van to secure (personally not a fan of these as may fridge the paintwork) like these or attach with magnetic strips

You could also look at freestanding ones - quest

My friend fitted a rail on his Ducato for a drive away awning. Used it once and decided then to sell it and bought a free standing tent standing at the side. Said it was to much bother connecting and disconnecting when wanting to move off site and back again.

Sometimes it can be a pain to use an awning on 'any' motorhome.
I suggest that you look on Attwolls (Gloucestershire) website.
They are the most obliging company and living in the Midlands (as we do) everything we need is done through them. They have a very comprehensive selection of free standing types, that you can attach or not.
Please remember...a roll out awning will only stop the sun for at most 1/4 of the day, unless you turn around.
Also there is no need at all to attach your chosen awning to anything, but it must be able to free stand. Free standing in as much the 'tunnel' just gets rolled up out of the way.
We have two Vango brand, they are used for rainy days, storage, and when opened up all around for shading us. Look on website and talk to them after.

Why not look at a stand alone shelter? We purchased a Quest Screenhouse 4 Pro at the Feb NEC show. It's 2.4m square and 1.8m high. Plenty of room for table and chairs plus cycles.
They don't come with a groundsheet and take 10min to erect. So far it's been totally waterproof. We are very pleased with it. They also have a six sided version.

We also have an excellent Vango Kella3 driveway awning for our Ducato PCV. This fits onto the rollout awning. But we only use it in UK when staying 3 nights or longer on a site.

Don’t assume you do need an awning at all, freestanding or driveway. Decide what you need it for - storage? Extra bedroom? If you’re not sure, don’t buy one until you’ve been away on a number of trips, as it will take up valuable storage space and a chunk of your weight allowance. It must useful to offset those disadvantages or you’ll just leave it at home.
We’ve had a MH for over 20 years without feeling the need for an awning, we cook & eat outside if it’s dry, very occasionally use the wind-out but just to give the dog a metre strip of shade to lie in. But we’re not taking bikes with us & the folding chairs go underneath the MH at night.
