I would like you to continue to seek advice before shelling out your dosh. We have had three new M.H. since 2008. We looked, we searched and had our wrong heads on for the first one. We went for an Elddis because of the space it offered. It was super, but it had a but. NOT enough seat belts for the passengers it was designed for. ie four people. It had the sleeping for four though. So as you are 4 people, make sure it has 4 seat belts. A lot of older ones do not. We are only 2 up most of the time, but the age of your young ones would have to have seats with belts. That is the law. Also they should be front facing. That was in 2008.
Move forward to 2011 and that seating restriction was a problem. So we went for new Autosleeper. Four seatbelts and the two in the rear were forward facing. Come 2016 we were a bit fed up driving around in a 'country cottage' beautiful, well made as she was. So we were on the look out for a spacious 4 belter that was easily rearranged to provide good sleeping arrangements.
In 2016 we were on the loose again for a new one. Autotrail she turned out to be. Looked at a show, found her, then asked our dealer to get us one. They did, and boyo boy has she been the one we should have had in 2008. I know the excitement, we felt it with all three. Stand back, think and decide with your head, not your heart. 2016, the third one and she is the bees knees. Mostly because of the ease of making up the beds, but she has not put a step wrong for us. Mostly it is only two of us, but we do take a third every now and again.
You have a good look around for just what you want. Spend your time now, not your money. It is almost the end of UK motor homing. Save, search, look at everything as 'local' as you can get. If you look at local dealers, and finding what you think you would like, go see it. Remember head not heart. I wish you well.

Well, you didn't pay a king's ransome, so even with some costs, you should be OK. As I said, my van was very reliable, but thirsty and under-powered. Still, it took us round Europe and the UK including the Western Isles of Scotland. The gear change was terrible, but this could be improved with careful adjustment. If it hasn't been done, change the interior light fittings for LED ones. That will save a lot of battery power.
As you can see from my profile (Don't forget to add your van and location to your profile. It helps when replying) I've got a Romahome R30. Absolutely superb van. It has 4 seats, but only 2 berth. (Kids have grown & flown)
