Hi folks, we are in France/Spain and one of our red gas bottles has run out. Am I able to use the French gas bottles, and if so, do they have compatible fittings?
Folks might be too busy to reply today but I’m pretty sure this topic has cropped up before, if you try the Search Forum option.
Have a happy Christmas Day tomorrow.
Assume you have a bulkhead regulator & pigtail connected to a Calor 6kg propane yes ? A suitable French bottle might be a 5kg LeCube propane. This uses a 27mm clip fitting.
You will need to go to local caravan/ motorhome shop & buy a replacement pigtail with the 21.8mm lh thread fitting & also a 27mm clip adaptor fitting to screw onto new pigtail. Put that all together, buy your LeCube & away you go.
I think a propane gas bottle can be any colour and not necessary red. Depends on the supplier. I think Flogas is blue for propane and yellow for butace. Calor gas have different colours.
A bit off the topic (ish) but why not consider refillable bottles in the future if you are away in Europe alot. Then all you need to do is refill the gas bottles at an lpg pump with an adaptor and this can be done widely across UK and Europe. As an added bonus you can refill before being completely empty, you will no longer need to haul the bottles in and out of the gas locker and the gas is quite a bit cheaper too. I changed to gasit bottles for this reason. Worth a look for convenience if you tour abroad another. Oh, and Happ Christmas!!
------------- Why am i doing this instead of camping??!!

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
