Fiamma roll out awnings. These are good, but they are only of any use to stop the sun for maybe 3 hours a day. The sun moves, your van is pitched. Plus if you leave the van awning out and it rains it will puddle and leak over.
We also have 2 Vango awnings. Both tall, and used only as stand alone (they have to be able to stand alone for when you drive away and go out for the day). We just pitch alongside the van why do any other? We eat / read in there, and store stuff.
We have been doing that since 2008 and find it the best way to use them.
Don't worry about it. They can stand alone and you can still use the roll out.
