We have caravanned in the UK and Europe for about the last 25 years. However, last year we bought a caravan sited in France and sold our UK one.
Suddenly in January OH was taken seriously ill and is now on dialysis 3 times a week. Since we can't get to France at the moment and don't want another caravan (he wouldn't be able to manage the hitching up and setting up), we are thinking of getting a small motorhome. There are 2 and a half days in the week which are dialysis free, so we could travel up to 3 hours from home for a couple of days away.
We have ruled out a campervan as we have 2 dogs and there really wouldn't be enough space for all of us.
Our budget is unlikely to be much more than £10,000, so we are looking at something nudging 30 years old we think. However, all those I have seen for sale seem to be in the north or far west of the country. Does anyone know of a source of elderly motorhomes in the east? We are based in the south of Northamptonshire near the Bucks border.

I live in the North and they all seem to be down South. It's just how things appear to be. Look on Marketplace and even Ebay for ones near you. 30 year old Ducato types up to 5 berth are now about £6k.
We part X’d our MH that was 25+ years old, but the dealer wasn’t going to keep it because they said they couldn’t do the warranty that buyers would want (& it lowered the tone beside all the big shiny new ones). They passed ours on to someone they used for these older MHs, I assume he sold it privately via Autotrader or Gumtree (where friends bought an older MH; it just needed sorting a few things that the habitation service showed up).
Hopefully you’ll find something soon, and I admire your “get up & go” attitude.
I don't know whether the Caravan Company at Finedon has any? They are a good company to deal with and could probably point you in the right direction if they don't have any. Good luck!

That's a good thought. Thank you. I think we looked at caravans there once. I'm pretty sure they don't have motorhomes, but I will give them a ring and see whether they have any ideas.
