How often do you have the Air-Con in your van Re-gassed. It costs about £60 to do. The handbook says annually, but the air con in my van hasn't been re-gassed in 5 years and still works perfectly.

I have mine tested and re-gassed every two years regardless does not do the
running parts any good with no gas, seals etc dry out then leaks and more expense.

The time between recharges depends almost entirely upon how often the system is operated. If not used regularly the seals dry out and leak, so not only will a recharge be necessary but seals may also need replacing. Ideally the system should be operated regularly, even in winter, in order to retain the effectiveness of the seals.

I think the manufacturers advise every two years, I know VW do.

It might seem like it's working fine, but after five years it definitely won't be at it's best.

Don't know about re-gassing, however, my aftermarket air con is not cooling and I have yet to find any local firm who would look at it for me.

Can't go back to the company that converted my van who arranged for the air con to be installed, as they ceased trading in September 2022, and I can't find any documentation relating to the intall.

Planning to visit a firm near London who said they would take a look, and I have planned to visit them after my last trip planned for this year in October 2023.

My nextdoor neighbour is a commercial vehicle mechanic, and he had a look and could not work out what's wrong with it, and suggested to look for a specialist installer.

There is a mobile air con service provider, more for re-gassing, however, he said he would have a look after the busy summer period.

I survived driving in July and August with the windows opened, however, it was a struggle when I was in traffic jams and stationary!

If aircon works don't touch it.

We have a 6 year old car which was a year old when we bought it. Aircon was switched on when we bought it and is only turned off for MOTs. Works as well now as when it was new.

If a regas is needed the old gas has gone somewhere so an investigation is needed as to where. My last aircon problem was due to a poorly welded condenser and the gas leaked out.

Depending on vehicle age the regas may cost a lot more than £60 as modern aircon systems use a more expensive type of gas.

My thoughts exactly the gas now is really expensive, why spend money if it still works

"Groupon" have got an offer of £41 on at the moment. Trouble is that you don't notice that it has gradually failed. It's an amazing difference.

I’m a bit confused: our Peugeot Boxer MH cab has air-con like the cars do (we only use it in hot weather). Some MHs and PVCs have roof mounted air-con units over the habitation area (we don’t have one).
Which air con re-gassing are we talking about?
