Hi all
Just booking a few sites up next year in Switzerland and French Alps.
We will be varying the roads , but will be including some toll motorways .
For France we have the Bip and Go tag and for Switzerland we buy the Vignette at the border.
Question is, normally in France over 3m high can be billed as Class 4 for the toll charges.
We have a Matrix Supreme , which iis about 2.9m high , but also have a Truma Comfort AC unit fitted on the centre of the roof , which will increase the height slightly taking it above the 3.0 metre ?
Do you think the sensors will pick up the AC and charge as class 4 as we have the Bip and Go toll tag, or is it better to stop and push the call button to tell them we are a Motorhome and pay at the booth?
Would it make any difference ?
If not , we will just continue to use the toll tag and put up with class 4 rate if necessary?

We noticed that cars with bikes on the roof got away with Classe 1, but then they are not solid like an AC unit

Unfortunately you won't know until you try. It depends where the height sensor is and how sensitive. If its at the point where you stop it might not realise there is an air conditioner as well. Don't forget you have the option of questioning the toll rate at the booth.

Like you I have been towing caravans for years and just changed to a motorhome to increase our time in mainland Europe touring.👍

our Pilote motorhome is 3.1 metres with the truma aircon unit we didn't get charged any extra with our emovis toll tag .
still class 2

hi,be aware that the vignette for Switzerland is for 12 months only,cost us 40 euros this year,also,if you've not been to Switzerland before,it is quite expensive.
We followed our satnav to get to our campsite and it took us up into the mountains to the alpine train,only to find our motorhome (Pilote reference 740 A class) was too big to go on it,so it was a two hundred kilometre detour for us, so plan your route carefully.
No we won't return to Switzerland again,Italian Dolomites are just as spectacular.
