Just received my insurance renewal documents, and the premium has increase quite dramatically, nearly 30%!
I shall give them a ring to ask why such a big increase when I have not made any claims since I took delivery of my custom-converted van in early 2021.
The base van was new in September 2020 when she was delivered to the company who carried out the conversion. This company went bankrupt and ceased trading in September 2022.
My original van insurance included a discount as the van converter was known to the insurance broker.
Time to look for alternative insurance for 2025!

We had to go elsewhere this year. SAGA had been the cheapest since we got the MH new in 2018, but the hike up this year was very noticeable, even with 15 years NCD. Now with CaravanGuard, but more wary now.

You have given the reason why the insurance has increased so dramatically. The facts are that it is a custom made unit and also the company that did the customisation ceased trading. Even with other insurance companies you may have the same hassle as it is custom made. However if you do not ask or shop around you will never know.
Most vehicle insurance has gone up. Our car with no changes £200 , but caravan new last year remains the same as new one is actually cheaper this year than last with manufacturer discounts,

Our car insurance went up by £120 even though I have 40 + years of not having claimed, when I queried it I was told itis because of the amount of claims insurances are having, the cost of repairs, the cost of replacement cars because repairs are taking longer as parts a taking longer to get to garages, when I queried why I and others like me should bear the cost when I had not claimed, they sympathised but said we are all paying extra to cover not just all the above but also uninsured drivers involved in accidents, my reply was, insurance like many things that we have to have is a licence to print money, needless to say I went elsewhere and got like for like cover for slightly less than I paid last year
I change my car insurers nearly every year as the renewal quote is a big increase on the previous year. Last year's was the biggest ever though, as it had nearly doubled. I always check about 3 different comparison sites and a couple of insurers that aren't on them, and it is one of them I have gone with this year. It has still gone up a fair bit, but nowhere near as much as last year's insurer had wanted.
kpnuts81 has hit the nail on the head for the general increase in insurance premiums.
The quote for our motorhome went up considerably in spite of not having maid a claim. I shopped around and found better cover for only a slight increase (all quotes were increased over the previous year). We went with CaravanGuard in the end.
I do wonder if premiums were much lower whether there'd be fewer uninsured drivers? Just a thought...

Only 30%!!!!!! Mine was nearer 80%. I managed to get it down to a more acceptable level by reducing the annual mileage and removing my wife as a co driver on the basis that she would never, ever, drive the motorhome. Still a fairly big increase but about £200 lower than the original quote!

Strange, in that when I have looked for quotes, it has been cheaper for two drivers on the policy.
Age plays a big part. When one driver reaches 80 it is a different ball game. Once I was 81 some insurers do not want to quote even with over 40 years no claim. And then it was not my fault claim.

Looks like I might have got off lightly with just a 30% increase!
