Topic: Leisure battery charge from home

Hi
We have a campervan with a leisure battery, solar panel and electric hookup.

I want to make sure that the battery is charged and wonder if I can run an extension lead from my house, connect it to a hookup cable converter (see picture) and plug that into the hookup point in my campervan and charge it that way?

you can, but your better off removing the battery and using a battery charger in your garage, you will get 100% charge then as opposed to 80% at best with the built in charger

I charge my caravan up through winter using a similar idea, It also has solar on the roof so that takes the care of the battery too

I hook up my van that sits outside my house to the mains using an outdoor socket and lead as pictured with a 10m cable.

There's no difference between the 240ac from a post in a campsite to the one you have at home. If the one at the campsite charges the leisure battery then the one at home will as well. 13amps is way way more than you need to supply enough current for a battery charger so the 13amp plug will be perfectly sufficient.

How far your charger will fill a battery depends on the charger and the battery but a decent charger with a decent battery should easily fill it right up.

My caravan charger charges at 13.8 volts, the solar controller (and smart charges) work in stages, Bulk, Absorption, Float and Equalise

I recommend you change your caravan battery charger for a proper one if it can't work out how to charge a battery higher than 80%. I assume you are referring to Lithium Ion here?
