Hi Mac,

I've no personal experience of buying in Germany and driving back, but I think you will find this interesting http://www.ukmotorhomes.net/germany.shtml .

As for where to start looking, do a search for 'gebrauchte wohnmobile', make sure it's not a uk only search. You will get loads of search results, some of which will allow you to change the language to English, the rest won't, but there are loads of free translation websites out there too so you will soon figure out what's what.

Incidentally, 'gebrauchte wohnmobile' means 'used motorhome' so you won't just find new ones for sale.

Let us know how you get on.

All the best

Phil

Hi Mac,

I've bought in Germany twice and had no problem.

Good places to look are on manufacturers websites who have secondhand sections and links to dealers web sites. There are several specialist Hymer dealers some advertise in MMM.

A dealer I used is at www.rhumetal.de they provide approximately 40 pictures of each van.I found they are good to deal with and they have lots of buyers from UK.There are cheap flights to airports local to them.

Drive back is OK but can seem a long way in a strange vehicle at first.

No plates and insurance are organised in Germany.Registering etc back here is very straight forward as long as you have enough German documentation.

Best of luck

Rambler
