I have bought an LCD TV and an inverter to run it. I plugged the inverter into my cigarette lighter output that is wired through the 12v control panel. (I can select off/leisure battery/car battery). I have run other 12v devices fine & the inverter powers up fine, plug in the TV (runs off 12v through an adapter) and is fine on standby, but as soon as I power up the TV the low voltage warning beep goes and the inverter shuts down.
HOWEVER, if I connect directly to the car battery through the cigarette lighter in the dash or directly to the leisure battery (the inverter was supplied with cigarette lighter adapter & clamps) & it works fine. So why the problem? Shouldn't I be getting the same voltage through the control panel as I do directly from the batteries?
I was hoping that it would be a simple case of finding a12v supply near where I want to site the inverter (under the front dinette seat as it happens) such as a light supply and off we go, but if I am not getting the required voltage through the control panel (and all the 12v appliances run through it as far as I know) then am I going to have to run cables directly from the leisure & car battery through a toggle switch (I want to be able to run the TV from either battery so the kids can watch a DVD when we're on the move).
Any help greatly appreciated.
The inverter is rated at 12v 300x (1000w peak) output.
The TV adapter is rated at 12v 50w input.
