we have bought a renault traffic T1000 model camper, and its gr8 dont get me wrong but after spending money on this, were a bit short of cash now, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas were to get an awning, also does anyone else have the same model, because coz also was wondering, we have 2 singles beds in ours has anyone made a double bed and if so HOW !! thats the only bad thing about my camper is its 2 singles beds
Awnings can be expensive. If you check the size of the opening you want to fit awning to, you might find a secondhand one on ebay. I have also noticed some people using gazebos as awnings.
What arrangement are your single beds? The usual is for a single down each side. These can be made into a double by adding a removable board between the singles. Somtimes, this board also makes a table when required. Layouts do vary greatly though.
thanks for replying, yeah its 2 single beds down each side , i thought that of the tables as my parents had a caravan when we were little but our tables are too small and the gear stick gets in the way, and theres no spare cushion thing to lie on ,
with gazebos thou do u not get charged xtra, as awnings are stuck on, were after it as a bedroom u c , ive seen one at cmaperlands in manchester on the website its a free standing one but was wondering how it attaches!!!! do u have a camper ???
i have got 2 awnings for sliding door campers they have both got 2 berth detatchable bedroon compartments but i want £85 for one and £100 for the other they are both in good condition, if your interested phone me on 01782 637135
dickie's awnings sound like a promising deal kirsty. Check you door opening though. I think Traffics can have either sliding and swing side doors. I dont know if this would be a problem with these awnings. Theyt usualy fit to the van's gutter.
btw dickie, what make are they? and could either of them possibly fit the rear of a van?
kirsty, you may have to just put up with the center board of your bed being just a bit shorter than the outsides. Put gear lever forward into gear and make sure the seats are back as far as possible. It might be bearable. You can often get foam cushions from caravan breakers. It can be quite expensive new. I have a couple of bits left from my van if you are stuck. Servicable but would need covering. Let me know if you need it and we might be able to arange something if your not to far into Lancashire. (not sure my visa is valid :-)
My own van Kirsty, is an old mercedes van I fitted out myself. Very low tech and basic but we decided we wanted to be of the ground after last years floods. Still always carry a tent though for when the rain stops.
thank you steven for replying im going to go out at dinner time and try my beds into a double,

the £85 awning is a square frame type one, and the £100 one is a royal tunnel type one they both have a 2 berth compartments in them and they were used on sliding door type campervans the reason we are selling them now is we have purchased a motorhome,
wots the dimensions of the royal tunnel awning any pictures or were did u get it from so i can see it, is £100 the lowest , coz i saw a brand new one for £ 150
i tried to look for some photos but could not find any, i would say its about 2 mtrs wide and about 4 mtres long we used to put our porta loo in the spece between the camper and the awning which is about 1 mtr by 2 mtres, the lowest i would go is £90 its only been used about 4 times.
i can`t remember if there is curtains or not i don`t take much notice of things like that, lol. debbie my oh will know il ask her when she gets in, the opening was used on a transit autosleeper sliding door type, if i can remember i think the height of the j rail on my transit was about 78 inches the awning fitted onto the side of my transit perfect..
