When travelling do you guys leave your pots, pans, plates etc. in the cupboards or do you store them away? If yo leave them in the cupboards, how do you stop them rattling about?

Don't know much about M/H's but in caravans we have special rack thingies, (not the technical member of our outfit!), that fix into a cupboard and we store them in those so no rattling en route! Well, your crockery anyway. Our 'pots & pans' are the camping ones that all fit inside each other so when they're all fastened in to one, they just fit in any old cupboard without rattling.

If you've got a smallish cupboard above your cooker or somewhere close to it, you can buy various racks for the job in most caravan accessory shops! Just measure the space you've got available and off you go!

hi, i pack use kitchen roll between everything, even the grill pan. stops all the rattles.

Non-slip matting stuff sold in rolls in camping shops, Wilkos and various other places (about £2.99).  You just cut it to size and it really stops things sliding around and rattling.  It is fantastic stuff.  Bubble wrap and tea towels are good as well.You'll probably have to experiment to see what works best in the various places. 

If you have an oven you will probably find that the shelves rattle - I've wrapped mine in bubble wrap.  Hope I remember to remove it before I cook anything - never tried roasted bubble wrap!  Actually never tried roasting anything in a camper as we've never had an oven before - next week will be our first real outing.

I just leave everything to rattle..., but then I'm used to it, everything in the back of my company van rattles and clangs a lot worse and there's nothing I can do to stop it, and that's five days a week every week so a few little rattles in Henry the Hymer seems like nothing.

I agree with the last 2. Just leave it to rattle. Can't be bothered with all this wrapping and unwrapping stuff. I just wanna get there, get the roof up and open that bottle!

   USE PAPER PLATES. AND PLASTIC KNIVES AND FORKS.

Tea towels are stored between pans & oven trays, crockery in racks fastened to cupboards & non-slip matting for the rest.

Another tip, store your bread in the microwave (saves having a separeate bread bin) we even do this at home now.

Line all my cupboards with it and stack eveything on top of one another like dishes on top of plates then in the spaces around place cups, etc. In my food cupboard I have always got tins, packets and jars and with that non slip stuff, nothing moves. I think the key to reducing any rattles is to store things properly in the first place. Most motorhomes have special storage racks for plates and cups etc. We also have in ours a special cultery drawer. We find that if you use melamine plates and acrylic tumblers and wine glasses etc you dont hear any rattles. The grip matting is a great help as everyone has said and if you do find any annoying rattles just wrap a tea towel around whatever is causing it. The only thing that bugs us in ours is the glass lid on the cooker so I just pop my oven glove underneath the lid when we are travelling and that cures it. I pack my saucepans in the storage compartment under the cooker and they are that well packed they dont move. Most people usually have their own way of dealing with any rattles but truthfully it really isn't a problem and it's all a learning curve - don't worry you will soon fathom out a solution in your own vehicle.
