We had agreed a purchase price of a camper which I am buying from a colleague. She had tickets to a Van festival this weekend so we agreed to collect the Van on Monday, once she has returned.

She has just called from Vanfest saying she is having second thoughts. Firstly, the vans seem to be selling for almost twice the price we agreed. Secondly, she is feeling sad to loose the van but feels that if she has to sell it, the extra money she would have got if she'd know the full potential price she could have achieved, would have compensated for her loss.

We have already paid £580 for insurance, travel insurance, medical insurance, ferry, maps and an RAC inspection and we are planning to leave for a 4 week trip to Europe on Thursday.

I don't know what to do.

I suggested that we loan it for the trip and sign some kind of agreement saying we would cover any potential loss. She then mentioned possible costs related to use and mileage.

Again. What the hell should we do?

In one way, it would work out well if we could loan instead of buying as we recently found out I am pregnant, so need to preserve cash!

Is there some way to pay a 'fair' portion of any mileage etc?

Looked into renting but that is going to cost over £2500.
