Foster & Day were a very well respected motorcaravan manufacturer.....have seen lots of oldies about, in very good nick - know someone who had all the bodywork touched up, all seams re-sealed., etc. is still a substantial investment - if you do spend money, may be worth having wax-oil treatment - at least can hold in that condition, for a while, rather than spend time and money on the coachbuilt part, and then the base vehicle lets you down when it comes to MOT's and things.

In the meantime, it wont cost much to beg, borrow or buy a de-humidifier, and leave it on.....some only work when is a minimum temperature, but at least it will keep drawing out the damp - and there will be quite a bit, in condensation anyway, if nothing else - it will draw out of the woodwork and frame, etc. I keep a fan-heater on frostat setting, to keep the condensation at bay, and use a de-humidifier usually at least once every couple of weeks, to keep damp out of bedding, clothing, etc., let alone any condensation or water penetration - would give a clue, if the amount of water collected escalated.  I also use a damp meter in the most common entry areas, for early warning......OK to date, but had problems with caravans in the past, when it is bad enough, but motorhomes are so expensive, and they are kept on the road long after their built-in shelf life, because of their value.  They bottom out, and dont go much below that figure, and are much loved to the bitter end.

A breatheable cover is usually tailor made, with door access, etc.

Used to use creeping crack cure myself to seal hairline cracks - damp is a killer, when it becomes visible, it is already a large problem. learned the hard way with old caravans.

still buy a good damp meter, will come in for other things, and you can at least find out the extent of the damage - might as well find out - it wont go away by itself.

good luck

hope is de-humidifier, not humidifier.    basics think, one takes moisture out, one puts moisture IN as in central heating, to counteract too dry air, which makes eyes prickly, etc.

Is there anyhere you could get it under cover.

maybe there has been entry round one or more of the roof vents, other window frames, as well as the seams.

should not cover with tarpaulins, but you might at least stop it getting worse for now, by covering roof area, the cheap plastic ones dont exactly chafe, but sounds like if a fair bit of damage anyway, you would not be making it worse.  at least it could be attached enough for the advantages to outweigh the disadvantages.

Just thought.........

go to Spain, without the rain, you will be back to summer living

..........and the van can dry out again......you might find labour over there cheaper too!
