Has anyone had the problem of broken suspension springs on the rear wheels of the Romahome Berlingo 1998. These springs are in addition to the shockers. Romahome want £110 to supply. They are only light springs, perhaps adapted from a trailer kit.
We have the new Romahome Berlingo Duo Hylo so can't help you but you might be able to find something about it on the Roma club Forum. I am sure you can post a question on their forum even if you are not a member. www.sphosting.com/romaclub
Hello to hairyoldgit (like the name by the way). Nice to see someone else here with a Romahome Duo Hylo. I think we are the minis of the motorhomes but we love ours. What area are you from? We are near Portsmouth so just wondered if you were in our neck of the woods.
I am not quite sure about my username, I did not give it much thought. My wife says keep it as I am a hairy old git. Yes we are in your neck of the woods. I have now put in more details, outfit, location etc.
You aren't far from us then hairyoldgit (Derek). I had a look at your gallery and saw that you have got a porch awning. We have been thinking about getting one. Do you mind telling me where you got yours from? Is it a drive away one and how do you get on with it?
Might see you sometime. We are thinking about having a weekend in West Wittering when the weather gets better.
Just got back from a weekend in the New Forest and could have done with one as it was wet and windy!
On your profile it does not indicate your location, but anyone with spring problems, as long as you have an original for pattern, no matter how old the vehicle, contact Jones Springs of Wednesbury, West Midlands. An old fasion hands on firm that still makes and modifies springs of all types. Example, last year I took him two rear springs from a Renalt Traffic, he reset them and added another leaf, all in four hour at a cost of £160, the vehicle was back on the road in less tham 24 hours from start to finish.
Hi Moya We seem to have hijacked this thread, hope that is ok with folks. The awning in the picture is the Harrison Motor Porch awning which is freestanding. It is a one size, fits all, but mainly aimed at the coachbuilts with slab sides. It does however fit the Duo Hylo very well but I think it would be too tall for the standard Duo. The oh thinks it is wonderfull as it has pretty curtains that match the ones that come with the van. I like it when it is on site but can become grumpyoldgit when setting up and striking camp. It requires two people to put it up and has 25 pegs + 4 storm guys. We also have a Quicktent from Avon Caravans, which became available at the end of last season. We have used it once and I am very pleased with it. It is not freestanding but it is very quick to put up and take down. It can be erected by one person. Up in 10 mins, down in 10 mins including neat folding, down in 5 mins if it is raining! Peg count is 4 round the fitted ground sheet, 2 to hold the sleeve and 4 main guys. It has 2 poles + 2 for a porch. I remain happyoldgit when putting this one up and down and if I get my way it will be the one that we will use most of the time. I have seen a freestanding porch awning advertised on this site which looks good but I dont know if it fits the Hylo. Someone else might like to comment. I like this web forum by the way, a good mix of tuggers, motorhomers and those that like to be under canvas. Derek
Thanks for that Derek & Joan. The only thing is The Harrison awning does sound a bit hefty. I am investigating the Movelite driveaway as advertised on here as it does sound good and lightweight.
I agree with you Derek, this is a great site and hopefully we will be able to get to one of the meets and see some of the members.
Not sure how to contact you direct but Im looking for a HARRISON nylon awning which I think you have/had?? If it is still available please e-mail me on sandbanks9 at ntlworld.com
