anybody got any ideas how the heating works in talbot express, auto sleeper convert there is a thermostat knob thingy to turn which clicks, when you turn it, but nothing seems to 'fire up' and should there not be something electric to switch on,  or is that the 'click' that i here when i turn the thermostat, i feel there should be some form of electric fan involved to circulate hot air through the vents     help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi. check to see if your gas is turned on first , light one of your gas rings on the cooker so all the air is expelled.and the gas is fully through the pipework.turn of the cooker.then try your heater ignighter again it should work after a couple of times,

if it has stood without use for a while you have to get all the air out first for the gas to light. hope this is of help..royell.

I take it you are using propane gas in red bottles?--butane gas in blue bottles will not work in winter--butane will not atomise sufficiently to work a blown air heater under about 6 degrees C--

Jane,

I am no expert but have been on a very steep learning curve since Oct last year very much helped by many folk on here. Here goes:

I have a blown air heater in my VW - as Billy says, check you have the right gas supply for the current temperatures. The way it works is that one vent sucks in cold air and the other blows out the warm air once it has been through the heating unit (powered by the gas supply).

So by turning on the gas, setting the thermostat and operating the switch it should work.

As royell said the most common cause for failing to ignite is air in the gas pipes so keep repeating above to clear any air locks.

Don't expect instant warmth it does take a few minutes to get going.

Keep trying it took me days to figure out how to ignite the fridge!! Good luck!

Jane

Hi. sorry i could not reply yesterday,  if your van is like mine you should find the heating unit under the settee next to the cooker , lift the seat and there should be a lid allowing access to the heater unit .directly behind the outlet on the front of the settee..royell.
