We have been considering this for some time. We have been in touch with several people who are already doing it. One is in the UK and they have rented out their house, keep a postal address at a relative's with some belongings. They work when they need money and then travel for the rest of the time.
We met a young couple in Southern Spain who have been doing it for twelve years. They now have two young children. They spend the winters in Southern Spain and the summers in UK working to finance their life style. They were having trouble with trying to buy a permanent base in Spain as they have no credit history i.e record of paying utility bills etc. This life style is a lot more popular than you would believe. In the three weeks we were there we met several people and they all knew of others!
Things to consider are - insurance - only one company, apparently, insures vans for fulltiming and that is Comfort. Health - if you are going abroad. If you spend more than six months abroad you have to register as a resident and become subject to all their rules etc.
Check out MMM - they have a team of advisors for all sorts of travelling and that includes full timing. You write to the magazine and they forward your letter to the advisor. We had pages and pages of advice, all of which we are working on for the day when we do it!!!
Just got to wait for the old man's knees to be replaced and the house will be up for sale (we are downsizing to a flat and we will rent it out for a bit of income and a safe haven should we need it when we are too geriatric to travel).
