Hope no one looks at the earlier posts on this thread, as it is now very out-dated, and much info is wrong.
Many thanks for pointing that out. As you have knowledge on the subject perhaps you could provide some up to date information on how the regulations have changed & post up the correct laws as they are now ?

Mafield01 joined in 2008, first posted in 2013 and this is their 2nd post, in 2022. I hope they’ll come back & update the rear seat belt legislation, that would be useful to a number of people.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
We’re currently looking for a motorhome and during our searches couldn’t understand why some were classed as 4 berth but with only 2 seatbelts. Never even occurred to me that 2 people would travel without wearing a seatbelt
Been interesting reading this thread. I had an older camper, and as I wasn't sure about the legalities of travelling on the side facing seats I investigated. (No seat belts btw) Apparently, due to the age of the vehicle, it was quite legal for passengers to travel on these seats without seat belts. However, when I upgraded to a much newer van with the exact same layout, there were warning signs that the side facing seats could not be used for travel, so I checked again, and that is the case. I have to say, I would not travel anyone on the side facing seats due to the aforementioned danger of using seatbelts on side facing seats, (and its a good excuse not to take others with me! lol)
