We are considering buying a flat hose for filling our tank. We know to get a drinking water safe one but are they really easy to use and worth having?

We saw a really compact one on a site (about 10in in diameter) but did not ask the people about it at the time. I have seen ones that look about 14-16in in diameter (on reel) about £25 - £40 in price.Any advice welcome.

Love motorhoming by the way. Had our Bessacarr about 18 months.Best thing we have ever done. Have managed to change my hours of work so I am off every second Mon/Tues (my husband's "weekend"). Fantastic life.

they r ok, but you need to unroll the whole thing, and if theres a kink in it it wont work very well, i bought a hose of the same design, its resigned to the cellar cos its a pain in the neck to use.

OK if your a long way from the water point but more hassle than its worth if you can get right near to it, but thats my opinion anyway

I have a small blue hose to fill my tank and I try to get close to the water point. I also have a flat blue hose which is handy if you can't get close to the water point as it's much longer. However if I use it you have to unravel it all and yes it is a pain reeling it back in. The other thing is that after you have put it away water seems to leak out of it for a while after and can leave the storage area a bit wet. They are good but have drawbacks.

We've  keep a hose on a reel for emergencies since we went on a site where our two hoses fitted together ( a total of 8 metres) wouldn't reach.  Not food quality as we don't drink or user the water for cooking.  It's a real pain as you have wind the whole thing out and because it's thinner than usual it takes ages to fill the tank.

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.

The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.

Thank you for your comments. Nice to have opinions before buying something we may not find too useful.
