Hi, we're about to start a panel van conversion and are planning on installing a propex heater.  Does anyone know if they're any good?  Do they throw out enough heat to really warm up the van?

We've also seen the Eberspachers, but as they're much more expensive, we'd prefer the propex.  If there are any other alternatives though, we're willing to consider them.

|Hi DandD, yes they are brill. I used to sell/fit & still use them. I am at present starting to build my own camper - VW high top LWB, & I shall be useing one myself. I found that if you have the propex on for about 20min its enough to warm up a van conversion (40min & your down to your underwear). Mind you if you use mains hook up you may want to do as a lot of people do; use a small heater blower (very cheap to buy).

Eberspachers are good but only do the same job as propex - for twice the price!

I have 3 propex heaters, all new - unopened (as I said 1 of which I shall use myself), the other 2 are for sale at COST - £335 (retail used to be £425?). All you would need is, gas pipe/gas tap. Everything else is in the box. & if you bring your van down to Kidderminster I'll help you fit it! (takes about 4 to 5 hours).

Thanks for your help - sounds like they're good.  The heaters that you have, what heat output are they?  (I believe there's a few different ones)

Propex heaters are British made for both the marine industry c/vans m/homes. Etc etc. we have also bought and used their products over the years and can only recommend them for there service, advice, and quality of their excellent heaters  ---   OMF  http://www.propexheatsource.co.uk
