Are you filling it with an ordinary hose pipe, as this can give a bad taste. You need to use a blue drinking water hose. Hope this helps.

Fill the tank full and then empty several times and see if it inproves, also remember that when you fill up when away that water may have its own taste sometimes brought about by the state of the supply pipework.  kiev

If all else fails, do has we do and use a separate small water container for drinking water and a good tasting cup of tea. Use the water tank only for washing or cooking  that way you should never  get any tummy bugs.   kiev

Hi Dave

I asked our local camping shop the same question last week, and was told to use sterilizing tablets in the tank at each refill

The hose weve bought does say food quality, but is yellow

Havent used the MH since but our son said it was fine last weekend

We did start off using the water from the main tank for drinking but now have a separate container which we then use to fill a table top water filter http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0152264.htm

We were put off drinking from the tank when the inside of the food grade hoses showed signs of mildew (good thing it's transparent) - cleaned it out but what a job!!

Sometimes a little rain must fall before you reach a rainbow.

The work will wait while you show the child the rainbow, but the rainbow won't wait while you finish the work.

I agree with the others, use a small container which you fill from the tap at least once each day.

There are several reasons why you should not drink water from the caravan plumbing.

The water picks up taste from the pipes and tank, loses its sparkle which comes from disolved gases, can be contaminated from bacteria, viruses, slimes and fungi that grow in wet conditions.

The water also gets warm.

We use a 5 litre clear plastic bottle with handle that contained sparkling water when purchased. You can see immediatley if the site tap water is contaminated or discoloured.

I have been on sites where the water had floaters in it. Thats when we go on to reserve bottled water, wine and beer.

the beer is a good alternative for me as i don't drink tea or coffee.......

i use aqua clean tabs about £5 for 32 tablets 1 tab for to every 5 gals (25) litres of water added when filling the tank and all is fine with our water i also plan to flush out the system once every 6-8 weeks with aqua clean fluid to keep it in tip top condition (i supose milton will do the same job) i did this with the caravan before we got the motorhome and all was fine then

although i am thinking about putting a water filter/tap in the m/h for drinking water just as an extra precaution (belt "n" braces) and all

regards Garry

  Thanks again all.

It seems if all else fails a seperate water drinking  container is the idea.

better to be safe than sorry. Then again I like the idea of defing the water and

go on the  diet of wine and beer. At least alcohol is known to kill worms.

If you put a worm in a glass off whiskey it dies.
