Hello,

I have a VW High top camper Hard top version (no idea what the official name is). I have heard tell that you can get some kind of bed that fits over the front seats. I need to make some extra space for my daughter who cant cope with sleeping in the roof. I am getting an awning a with sleeping comparment but we sometimes use the camper to go to parties or to visit friends and stay overnight and are parked on driveways and so a quick put up bed would be really handy.

Any advise would be gratefully received

I think you mean one of these

198

I know you can get them from http://www.bluebird-type2.co.uk/bunk3.jpg Click on INTERIOR on the left hand menu.  They retail at  £59.95 but I have occasionally seen them on Ebay for cheaper than that.

By the way VW Starbug I had a look at your web site. Love what you've done to the interior of your camper. Iv'e only had mine a couple of months (used to have tent only) and of course the first thing you want to do is put your own identity on it. My curtains are very fogey and should be replaced with something a tad more funky but because they have all the velcro bits and poppers i am loath to do that. Is it a difficult job?

To be honest, when I had my camper van it was very clean inside but had these horrible yellowy curtains and horrible upholstery but the actual foam underneath the fabric was good.  I had my seat covers made because of the back seat being in two halves for the rock and roll bed I couldn't find any in the shops.  They cost me £40 which I thought OK.  They are well made - believe me they take a battering with three kids!  I bought the curtain material and literally just took the old ones down and used them for the pattern. Just put a couple of strips of velcro where two curtains joined together and voila that was it.  I am going to make some new curtains for next year and line them; bit more fiddley but I'll have a go. It is nice to put your own mark on your VW.  It's the little things added to finish it off that makes it so cool, ie my scooby doo nodding dog and Ozzy Osbourne air freshener on the dash and don't forget those furry dice!!!
