Hi there

Im a new member and a widow.  I have a caravan stored on a site in France which I am able to get to on my own but I really miss the travelling and the company.  I have thought about buying a Romahome or similar with the intention of travelling either home or abroad and maybe meeting up with people in a similar situation. I would welcome any suggestions.  I intend going to the caravan/camping show in London on 16th Nov. Will any other members be there?

Regards

Jacqui

 Hi Jacqui,

I own a Romahome Duo Hylo, I go off alone, mainly on to Dartmoor to visit ancient sites, not camp sites I hasten to add. The van is ideal, couldn't recommend it more highly.

    Regards Alan.

Hi Alan

Thanks for your recommendation.  Im going to look at the Romahomes at the caravan show to see what they are like and probably spend the winter looking around local dealers. I probably cant afford a brand new one.  Hopefully I can hit the road in the spring. How do you find travelling alone? I think I would feel safer staying on caravan club sites.

Regards

Jacqui

Hi Jacqui, consider looking out for a Bedford Bambi Motorhome, and join bambi owners club. I dont know from which area you are from, but with this club there are six areas, so there would be one to suit. Incidentally there are many solo members, a lot being women. If you care to look at the web site it is www.bambiownersclub.com. Once you are on,click Gallery, and you will see the kind of vehicle, and what goes on at the various rallies and meets. regards Bill

Hi Jacqui

Hi Alan

and all others as well

We bought a Romahome this summer and have absolutely no regrets. My husband is not too well and I have to drive everywhere so we wanted something I could manage.  I also joined the Small Motorhome website  www.smallmotorhome.co.uk  (I don't know how to post a link) which  is a really friendly site like this one but much smaller, about 50 or so members but growing.  We recently had a first meet at end of October and a lovely relaxed time we had.

I am going to the show on 16th and will also look at the Romahome site and I shall wear a UKCS sticker (I might pin it on my coat somehow) so if you see me give me a HELLO would love to see you.

Auto sleepers also do a similar van now.

regards

You'll all be very welcome on any UKCS meets, as Lunnie said. There's quite a few of us who camp on our own, or with children and no partner, at all the meets and everyone is welcome regardless of whether you are in a motorhome, tent, caravan or anything else!
